Widener Library was named after Harry Elkins Widener, Class of 1907, an avid collector of rare books. 📚 After an overseas trip, Harry and his parents decided to return home on the #Titanic. The ensuing disaster claimed both Harry and his father. Mrs. Widener survived, and to honor her son’s memory, funded this library in Harry’s name with a special chamber containing all 3,300 volumes from his priceless book collection.
